who we are

Sala Bai Hotel and Restaurant School

Training underprivileged young Cambodians

Sala Baï is a hotel and restaurant school in Siem Reap created by the French NGO ‘’Agir Pour Le Cambodge’’ in 2002. In the last five years, 413 disadvantaged young people have been trained, enabling them to achieve economic independence and improve the living conditions of their families.

what we do

The selection criteria for students focuses on accepting those from low income families, with a preference given to females. We have a 4-step selective recruitment process that allows approximately 100 disadvantaged young Cambodians to be trained every year. It involves applications, family visits, a written exam and interviews.

Students spend 11 months in qualified training in either Restaurant Service, Cooking, Front Office or Housekeeping. The course consists of theoretical classes and practical experience in our training facilities and internships in international standard hotels.

All training is completely free of charge and the Sala Baï scholarship provides school supplies, accommodation, food, bicycle and insurance coverage for all students. The training and diploma awarded at the end of the school year are real assets for students. Over 90% of our graduates find a job within three months of graduation and after five years, 81% of all graduates are still working in the hospitality sector.
